“Kolodytskyi Cup” has started!

Baseball season 2018 is getting closer! Today the traditional spring preseason international “Kolodytskyi Cup” tournament has started. This competition was named after a famous Ukrainian sports figure Viacheslav Kolodytskyi, who died in 1998. Since 1999 “Kolodytskyi Cup” is held every year. 

This year among the following teams take part in the “Kolodytskyi Cup”: “BioTexCom-KNTU” and “BioTexCom-SDUSHOR” (Ukraine), BC “Minsk” (Belarus), the “Play Global camp” team (Ukrainian players from 15 to 18 years old).

Ukrainian baseball umpires’ clinic

Before the new playing season 2018 officially begins, the baseball umpires’ clinic will be held in Kropyvnytskyi city (Ukraine). This clinic will take place from the 11^th till the 14^th of April.

Stanislav Profatilov (umpire of the ESF/CEB) was appointed as head of organizing committee, and Serhii Bololij (umpire of the CEB) will be an instructor during the Ukrainian clinic.

Theoretical and practical classes, as well as the analysis of the umpiring of the game will be held during the umpires’ clinic.

All events in the frameworks of the clinic will be held at the stadium “Diamant”, in Kropyvnytskyi city.

Freddy Lange joins CBS Sant Boi

23-year-old Venezuelan pitcher Freddy Lange is joining CBS Sant Boi in the Spanish Division de Honor.

He is also in possession of a Spanish passport and was part of the Spanish national team during last year’s U23 European Championship. In 2014 he played in Germany, in 2015 and 2016 in France and last year in Canada, where he also worked as instructor at an academy. With Sant Boi he also will be joining the coaching staff.

Results Swiss Nationalliga A April 7 & 8, 2018

The Swiss Nationalliga A opened its gates to the 2018 season this past weekend.

Defending champion Therwil Flyers downed the Bern Cardinals in the opening doubleheader. The Lausanne Indians defeated the Wil Devils in their return to the NLA. The Lucerne Eagles blew by the Sissach Frogs by a combined score of 43-0.

Results French Division I April 8, 2018

The French Division I got underway this past weekend.

Defending champion Rouen Huskies welcomed the La Rochelle Boucaniers in the league with 13-1 and 13-8 scores. The Senart Templiers swept St Just St Rambert Ducks 14-2 and 11-2. The Montpellier Barracudas opened the year with 10-6 and 13-5 wins against the Savigny Lions. The Montigny Cougars beat Paris UC 1-0 and 5-4 in a pair of nail-biters.

Czech Extraleague: Arrows Ostrava shuts out Skokani Olomouc on Tuesday

The Arrows Ostrava shut out Skokani Olomouc on Tuesday evening 10-0 in a make-up game of last weekend’s rainout on opening day.

Arrows scored five runs in the second to lay the groundwork for the win. Last Friday Ostrava defeated Olomouc 15-0 in the season opener.

Hrosi Brno adds Stephen Swagerty

Hrosi Brno has added US-American right-hander Stephen Swagerty for the 2018 season in the Czech Extraleague.

The 26-year-old played in the PECOS League and the Frontier League in the past two seasons.
