The “Stuttgart Reds” team has played the first game of the season against the defending champion “Mainz Athletics” (German Bundesliga). The first game of the doubleheader took place on the “DB-Ballpark” stadium and ended disappointing for “Reds” with the score 1:11. But still, the team managed to rematch and win. Score of the second game was 4:1.
Jimmy Jenson is a new pitcher in “Stuttgarts”, who has played on starter`s position. Skilled American player showed rather good game. He had one run and 7 hits. Moreover, 88 of his 112 pitches were strike-outs.
The “Athletics” has come forward in the second inning after Martin Kippan`s successful run and ground-out by Yannic Wildenhain. Drake Zarate leveled the score in the fourth inning. Javier Gonzalez and Jensen used 2-run-single by Jonathan Conzelmann and scored with 3:1. Ruben Kratky fulfilled the solo-home run and in such way made a point in the game.
The new pitcher of “Mainz Athletics”, Riley Barr played in the second game. He made eight hits and four runs during the eight innings.
