Achievements of the Ukrainian baseball players at the “Roy Hobbs World Series”

The “Roy Hobbs World Series” international baseball tournament has started on October 28 in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

Baseball players of the National Team of Ukraine have already managed to play two matches during the current international competition.

According to results of the first game, the Ukrainian National Team lost out to the American “Tennessee Dirtbags” team with the score 3-2.

But during the second match, the Ukrainian team returned a victory by defeating their opponents “Chicago Colts” with the score 15-9.

Ukrainians will compete for the medal of the “Roy Hobbs World Series” this Friday.

First success of Ukrainians in Florida!

 

The anniversary tournament “Roy Hobbs World Series” has started in Florida, USA, recently. This year competition is held for the 30^th time! As for Ukrainians they came to the championship for the second time.

Ukrainian veterans have started the tournament successfully and got their first victory on the American field! Ukrainians defeated last year’s champion the “Chicago Colts” team with the score 15-9.

Ukrainian player Volodymyr Buialo commented this game: “For me, a trip to the Roy Hobbs World Series in 2017 was the first visit to the United States of which I had dreamed since 1988, when I first got to know, and loved, baseball. And it’s impressive when you can play as part of the national team of Ukraine. Last year we won one game. This was the only victory in the history of the Ukrainian baseball team on the American baseball field. I hope that we will win more games this year!”

Ukrainians among the “Roy Hobbs World Series” competitors

Baseball players of the National Ukrainian Team will visit America and participate in the prestigious competition.

The “Roy Hobbs World Series” tournament will take place from October 28 to 3 November in Fort Myers Beach (Florida).

Players of the American states and other countries including Ukraine will demonstrate their baseball abilities during the competition.

The baseball National Team of Ukraine will take part in the tournament in the “masters” category for the second year in a row. The Cuban player of the “Atma” team (Kyiv Oblast) Raidel Arbelai has also joined the Ukrainian National Team.

Results of the Ukrainian baseball Cup 2018

The last round of the Ukrainian baseball Cup 2018 was finished recently.

The final games of the tournament were held at the baseball field in Kropyvnytskyi city. Three –game set were played among “BioTexCom- KNTU” and “BioTexCom- SDYUSHOR-2” baseball teams. The first place was ranked by the Ukrainian baseball champion the “BiotexCom-KNTU” team, with the final score 5 - 15; 1 - 13; 8 – 13.

The final game of the Kyiv Baseball League 2018 took place in the “Muromets” park in Kyiv recently.

The “MSK” team which includes players of the “Tigers” team, “Almaz” and “ATMA” teams played in the final game against multiple champions, the “Dgmeli” team.

The first three innings of match were scoreless because the “MSK” team had a skillful player on the pitcher`s position - Yevhen Tkachenko. But in the second half of the match, experienced players of the “Dgmeli” team managed to open a score thus the youth team couldn’t play a card.

According to the results of the final game, the “MSK” team lost a match to the “Dgmeli” team with the score 4-8.

Ukrainian Baseball Cup 2018: results of the semifinal

Recently four Ukrainian baseball teams competed in the frameworks of the 1/2 Ukrainian Baseball Cup 2018.

All teams played double-set games in order to advance for the next round of the competition. First games were held between “Zahidnyy Vohon” (Rivne) and the “BioTexCom-KNTU” (Kropyvnytskyi) baseball teams. According to the results of the matches, the “BioTexCom-KNTU” team defeated their opponents with the score 0 -13 and 1 – 29.

Another doubleheader was played among “West Side” (Rivne) and “BioTexCom -SDUSHOR-2” (Kropyvnytskyi) teams. Baseball players from Kropyvnytskyi city managed to win both matches, with the final score 2 – 14 and 1 – 11. 

Final of the Kyiv Baseball League 2018!

The long-awaited baseball event will be held on Saturday, October 13. Forthcoming final game of the Kyiv Baseball League 2018 will be played in Kyiv park “Muromets” at 11 AM.

The debutants of the competition the “MSK” team and the “Dgmeli” team, a multiple champion of the KBL, will meet in the final.

Both teams include baseball players from the Kyiv region. But the “MSK” team has one star-player – Stanislav Komotov. He is one of the most experienced baseball players, the head manager and coach of the “Atma” team and the president of the Kyiv regional baseball and softball federation.

Odesa Mariners Baseball Club got a new home!

The “Odesa Mariners Baseball Club” has found a home – the Sports Academy near the Odesa airport.

The club is now open to all interested athletes age 10 and up. Moreover, the “Odesa Mariners Baseball Club” also has an adult team. The Mariners’ adult team finished second this year in the inaugural season of Ukraine's Veterans 35+ baseball league.

Mariners president and co-founder is Valeriy Vradiy and the veteran’s league founder and the commissioner is Serhii Dobryvechir. Both men were inspired by their participation last year in the “Roy Hobbs World Series” tournament in Fort Myers, Florida.

How the “Horn” team started the championship marathon

Not without a reason it is said that Kropyvnytskyi city is the core of the Ukrainian baseball. This is a place where the “Horn” team won their first gold at the Ukrainian championship 23 years ago. After their first victory, baseball players got four more champion`s titles of Ukraine. That is how the “Horn” team has started the Kropyvnytskyi baseball marathon.

Today the teams from the Kropyvnytskyi city are the strongest competitors among the Ukrainian baseball clubs. This year just they have become champions of Ukraine for the 23rd time in a row. Moreover, the baseball players regularly take part at the European tournaments.

The “Horn” baseball team has celebrated their 20th anniversary by a sporting event in order not to forget their start! The “Horn” Cup was held in celebration of the first victory of the team from Kropyvnytskyi city. The players of the first line-up also visit the celebration. Two strongest teams of the country, gold and silver medalists the “BioTexCom-KNTU” and the “BioTexCom – SDUSHOR” teams competed in the series of baseball games.

Ukrainian baseball Cup 2018: “Poltava Wild Hogs” vs “Sokoly”

 

Last weekend has taken place the first stage of the “Ukrainian baseball Cup 2018” tournament. Competitors have played two matches on the home field of the "Poltava Wild Hogs" team.

The first game day was spoiled by bad weather conditions. However, a pitcher of the “Sokoly” team Andrii Kostashchuk (the Youth European Champion 2016) managed to lead his team to victory. In addition to a successful pitching game – 14 strike-outs, Andrii made a solo home-run. As a result, the “Sokoly” team won the game with a score 10:0 in seven innings.

The next day, guests took the lead again. The team of the coach Rostislav Hrinchuk kept an advantage over the entire match. In the middle of the ninth inning, the score was 11:5 in favor of “Sokoly”. However, the “Poltava Wild Hogs” team chased the game. Only the lack of experience did not allow them to snatch victory during the regular time. After nine innings the score was 11:11. In extra-inning, baseball players from Chernivtsi city defeated the “Sokoly” team with the score 17:11.
