Angel Service Nettuno cuts Infielder Omar Luna

Angel Service Nettuno has parted ways with Dominican infielder Omar Luna.

He batted .222 with two doubles, eight runs scored and six RBI in 15 games in the Italian Baseball League this year. The 30-year-old played seven seasons in affiliated minor league ball for the Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Prague Baseball Week 2017: Recaps Day 1, June 27, 2017

Day one at the Prague Baseball Week 2017 is in the books. The Czech Senior National Team and both International Stars selections won their opening day games.

The Czech Seniors downed Russia 12-4. Daniel Vavrusa made two home runs and eight RBI.

The 3n2 International Stars beat the Czech U23 squad 9-0. Their pitching allowed just three hits in the game.

The International Future Stars meanwhile downed Germany’s U23 national team 6-2.

Ukrainian Championship 2017, Major League, Division “А”, Round 3

The annual baseball tournament “Ukrainian Championship 2017” has been continuing in Ukraine! 5 matches between teams from Kropyvnytskyi, Chernivtsi and Rivne city were held during the 3^rd round of the Championship.

“Zahidnyy Vohon” team has met with the defending champion “BioTexCom - KNTU”. Only two of the scheduled three games were played due to rainy weather. The last (third) match was pushed back to the 5 round (02-03.09.2017) of the Championship.

In addition the “BioTexCom – SDUSHOR-2” team defeated the opponent “Sokoly” team from Chernivtsi city.

Latest results of the German Bundesliga

The series of games in German Bundesliga took place last weekend.

On Saturday the game day began with the double victory of “Mannheim Tornados” over the “Bad Homburg” team. While “Stuttgard Reds” got ahead of “Buchbinder Legionare Regensburg”. The “Untouchable” twice defeated “Dohren Wild Farmers”.

Seven matches were held during the 11th game day on Sunday. The “Mainz” and “Heidenheim Heidekopfe” teams shared their victory. And “Munchen-Haar Disciples” cut around “Saarlouis Hornets” in the South Division. The “Solingen Alligators” twice beat “Cologne Cardinals” in the North Division. As a result, the team solidified its second place in standings after the “Bonn Capatals”. Meanwhile, the “Hamburg Stealers” team got two victories over “Dortmund Wanderers”.

2017 Prague Baseball Week starts on Tuesday

The 2017 Prague Baseball Week is getting under way on Tuesday with the first three games at Krc field – home of the Prague Eagles.

Six teams are participating this year with the Czech Senior and the Czech U23 National Teams, Germany’s U23 National Team, Russia’s Senior National Team and two selections of players from all over Europe dubbed the 3n2 International Stars and the International Future Stars.

Netherlands announces Roster for World Port Tournament

The Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB) announced their roster for the upcoming World Port Tournament in Rotterdam.

The selection, which will be led by managers Steve Janssen and Sidney de Jong, has nine debutants on its roster. Kaj Timmermans, Jerremyh Angela, Rowan van Hoek, Max Clarijs, Max Draijer, Kendrick Delima, Bram Grooten, Nick Peels and Rachid Engelhardt will play for the Dutch senior national team for the first time.

The WPT is being played from July 1 to 9 at Family Stadium in Rotterdam. On June 28 the Dutch team will face Germany in an exhibition game in Haarlem.

Throwback Saturday in Bulgarian Baseball League

On 24 June 2017 the Bulgarian Baseball League hosted a unique event at baseball field ‘Oktomvri’ (October) in Sofia, Bulgaria.

This is Throwback Saturday 2017!

The regular season game between Sofia Blues and Athletic Sofia will see both teams hit the field wearing throwback uniforms in a tribute to previous generations of Bulgarian baseball players.

In 2017 the Blues and Athletic are in a fearlessly battle for the top spot in the League (a few games before the end of the regular phase and the start of the Playoffs, the Blues sit atop the league while Athletic are a game behind).

All of the action from the pre-game performance and the game itself was streamed live via Bulgarian Baseball League’s FB page and the broadcast will feature live comentary (in Bulgarian).

Indians, Twins to Play Two-Game Series in San Juan, Puerto Rico Next April

The Cleveland Indians and the Minnesota Twins will meet in a two-game series at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 17th-18th, 2018.

According to Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association; the games will mark the first time that either team has played in Puerto Rico.

The two-game set, which will serve as Twins home games, will represent the first regular season games played in Puerto Rico since the New York Mets and the Miami Marlins held a three-game series at the historic ballpark in June 2010.

 “The Twins look forward to joining MLB and the Cleveland Indians organization in celebrating Puerto Rico’s rich baseball heritage and growing influence on our game.” Twins President & CEO Dave St. Peter said.

“It is a dream come true for me to play in Puerto Rico,” Indians All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor said. “When the Montreal Expos played in Puerto Rico, I remember going to those games and thinking to myself, ‘I would love to be here playing in front of my country and people.’ Now that we have the opportunity next April, it is a dream realized for me. These will be the most memorable regular season games of my career, for sure.”

MLB also held regular season games in San Juan in 2001, when the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays opened the regular season, and in 2003 and 2004, when the Montreal Expos played a portion of their home schedule at Hiram Bithorn Stadium.
