The Polish
Extraleague club Barons Wroclaw has added import players Phil Acosta and Adex
Gomez.
Acosta is a US
American third baseman and pitcher, who is coming from the German
Baseball-Bundesliga club Ulm Falcons and who is also going to coach the team.
Gomez is from Mexico
and is going to show the best results as a pitcher.
RHP Kender Villegas joins Rouen Huskies
Former minor leaguer
Kender Villegas is joining the Rouen Huskies in the French Division I.
The 24-year-old
Venezuelan right-hander reached Double-A with the Toronto Blue Jays. He first
was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals and later also played for the Atlanta
Braves organization before joining the Blue Jays.

First results of the KBL 2018
The first game of the Kyiv Baseball League 2018 was held recently. “Angels” and “Tigers” teams were participants of the first match.
According to the results of the first game, in the fifth inning “Angels” defeated their opponents with the score 16-3.
The second game of the KBL 2018 will be hosted by the “Angels” and “Almaz” teams. The match will take place in Kyiv, at the “Druzhby Narodiv” stadium.
Balkan Baseball Championship 2018 in Sofia
Balkan Baseball Championship 2018 has started on 26 April in Sofia, capital of Bulgaria. The WBSC-sanctioned event will help until April 29. The baseball tournament will see hosts and defending champions Bulgaria take on the national teams of Greece, Serbia, and Romania.
The games of the Balkan Championship 2018 are the highlight in a series of initiatives Baseball and Softball Bulgaria are organizing in this landmark season.
Once Championship 2018 is over, the focus of the Bulgarian baseball and softball organizations will turn to the Bulgarian Baseball League (BBL), as well as the baseball Federations Cup Qualifier club tournament taking place in Blagoevgrad from 12 June to 17 June.

Wes Roemer highlighted the game day in the Czech Extraleague this past weekend.
The hurler led Draci Brno to a 10-0 win over the Eagles Prague, throwing eight no-hit innings, while striking out nine. Draci won all three games this weekend and continues to lead the standings.

In the French Division I the Rouen Huskies suffered their first defeat of the 2018 season on Sunday.
The Savigny Lions beat them in game two of a doubleheader 7-2. Game one went to Rouen by a score of 6-5. Meanwhile the Templiers Senart improved to 6-0 with a sweep over Paris UC. The Montpellier Barracudas picked up two wins over the La Rochelle Buccaniers. St. Just St. Rambert Ducks and the Montigny Cougars split a twin-bill.

In the Spanish Division de Honor Baseball the Tenerife Marlins extended their lead in the standings with crucial wins over the Astros Valencia.
In a pair of close games, the Marlins won 12-7 and 10-9. Baseball Navarra swept a two-game set against CB Viladecans. CD Pamplona split against Miralbueno Zaragoza. CBS Sant Boi and San Inazio Bilbao also shared wins.

On Saturday the Therwil Flyers swept the Wil Devils by
a combined score of 32-0. The Bern Cardinals scored 33 runs and allowed only

prevailed 11-8 and 12-3 over the Lucerne Eagles. The Sissach Frogs and the

opened the 2018 season this past weekend with eight games.
Rimini defeated Angel
Service Nettuno 4-2 and 10-0. T&A San Marino celebrated 3-0 and 12-0
shutouts over Padule. Unipol Bologna beat Tommasin Padua 7-3 and 1-0. The only
split occurred in Nettuno with Parmaclima winning game one 5-2 and the hosts
game two 1-0.

In the German
Baseball-Bundesliga the Bonn Capitals and Heidenheim Heidekoepfe remain
undefeated after week four.
Bonn swept the
promoted Bremen Dockers, while Heidenheim downed the Saarlouis Hornets. The
Stuttgart Reds and Ulm Falcons captured surprise wins in matchups against the
Mainz Athletics and Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg.

Dovydas Neverauskas send to Triple-A
Lithuanian right-hander Dovydas Neverauskas was optioned to Triple-A by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Neverauskas had made the opening day roster for the Pirates, but has allowed eight runs on 11 hits and three walks in seven appearances so far. Last year he had an ERA of 3.91 in 24 games in the big leagues for Pittsburgh.
Quick Amersfoort add RHP Luis Figuera Roman
The Dutch Hoofdklasse club Quick Amersfoort has added 27-year-old Venezuelan right-hander Luis Figuera Roman to the roster for the upcoming season.
Between 2008 and 2010 he played in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. In 2016 he already played in the Hoofdklasse for Kinheim.

Germany replaces Curacao at Honkbalweek Haarlem
The German national
team is going to replace Curacao at the Honkbalweek Haarlem 2018.
The 29th edition of
the international baseball tournament at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem,
Netherlands will be played from July 13 to 22, 2018. Besides Germany and host
Netherlands also Italy, Cuba, Japan and Chinese Taipei will participate.
Germany now is opening the tournament against the Dutch team.

Ukrainian team has visited the baseball tournament in the USA
Roy Hobbs Baseball is more than 700 teams across the USA, Canada, the Caribbean and in Europe, representing more than 9,000 players.
Roy Hobbs Baseball is people who love the game of baseball and have determined that anyone can play the greatest of America’s team sports regardless of age. Since the founding days, Roy Hobbs has expanded its view to include all ages from 30 to 75 and over.
Ron Monks has been involved with Roy Hobbs Baseball since very beginning. Not only was Monks on the original board of directors but he also was the man who coined the name for the organization. Monks sold Hobbs to Tom and Ellen Giffen in 1992. Monks started Hobbs in the 1980s, when he resided in Woodland, Calif. Now, he lives in Odessa, Ukraine.
Monks has brought a Ukrainian team to the World Series. He’s spreading the gospel of baseball in this faraway land. Why? He’s been in Ukraine nearly seven years and believes bringing a team to the World Series will grow the sport there.
“Try to get their enthusiasm level jacked up a little bit,” Monks said. “That will translate into them doing more to help the kids coming up because they started playing when they were kids.”
It was a long trip getting here, flying from Kiev to Istanbul and then to Miami and driving across Florida late Saturday night. Lee County facilities amazed Ukrainian players such as Raidel Arbelay, who is originally from Cuba. He said he kissed the CenturyLink grass and wants to grow the sport he played as a boy in Cuba.
“I never imagined 65-and-older, 70-and-older, 75-and-older. Unimaginable that first year.” – Monks said. He couldn’t have imagined expanding into Ukraine, either.

In the German Baseball-Bundesliga the Bonn Capitals and Heidenheim Heidekoepfe swept important two-game series in duels with playoff contenders.
The Capitals beat the Hamburg Stealers 5-0 and 2-1 with game two decided in the 11th inning. Heidenheim needed 14 innings to down the Buchbinder Legionaere in game one by a score of 3-2. Also the 4-3 victory in game two was a nail-biter.

The Baseball League Austria kicked off the 2018 campaign.
An opening day matchup between defending champion ASAK Athletics Attnang-Puchheim and the Vienna Wanderers. In game one the Athletics prevailed 10-3, overcoming an early 1-3 deficit. In game two the Wanderers won 16-7 in high-scoring fashion.
Stockholm Monarchs add Chris Childress, Nathan Skinner for 2018 Season
The Stockholm Monarchs of the Swedish Elitserien are proud to have Chris Childress and Nathan Skinner onboard for the 2018 season.
Both players are coming to the Monarchs after playing the winter in Australia which is also Skinners native country. Childress is an American that has spent several winters in Australia and both him and Skinner are getting their first taste of European baseball. Both players are capable of playing multiple positions which should help the Monarchs young team. Both players have worked with Coach Trevor Rooper in the past.

The “Play Global” camp was completed in Ukrainian baseball capital
The Kropyvnytsky city (Ukraine) has recently hosted the “Play Global” training camp that was held before the European baseball championship start which will take place from 23 to 29 of July 2018.
Sponsored by the “Play Global” international organization, spring training camp was lasted 3 days and contained practices, games and teamwork lessons for baseball players and coaches. Several Ukrainian teams and team from Belarus has attended this year’s camp. During the training, camp players were able to practice their baseball skills and to train before the competitive games.
The “Play Global” is a sports organization, which creates long-term baseball programs under the leadership of coaches from different countries in order to spread baseball culture around the world. This year Ukraine took part in “Play Global” baseball training camp for the second time and organizers hope cooperation with Ukraine will be continued in future.
Unipol Bologna won Coppa Italia 2018
Unipol Bologna has
won the 2018 Coppa Italia. The league-cup style tournament was played in
advance of the 2018 season in the Italian Serie A1 (formerly known as Italian
Baseball League).
At the Final Four,
played at Gianni Falchi Stadium in Bologna, Unipol Bologna defeated Citta di
Nettuno 13-4 in the final. Osman Marval led Bologna with a home run and five
RBI.
Nettuno had defeated
Parma Clima in the semi-final, while Bologna prevailed over Rimini. T&A San
Marino, Nettuno Baseball City, Polisportiva Padule and Tommasin Padua had lost
in the quarterfinals last weekend.

“Kolodytskyi Cup 2018” results
The baseball capital
of Ukraine, Kropyvnytskyi city has held the traditional spring preseason
tournament “Kolodytskyi Cup” recently. The “BioTexCom-KNTU” became the winner
of this international tournament.
The “BioTexCom-KNTU”
and BC “Minsk” teams met on the field during the final game. Ukrainian team won
the tournament with an impressive score – 16-6.
The host team led the
score from the very beginning – 4-0, but in the 4th inning players
from Minsk tied the game. Soon Ukrainian baseball players got two more points but
their guests kept pace with them and the score turned 6-6. However, in the 5th
inning the “BioTexCom-KNTU” team gained momentum and made 10 successful runs
that brought them a victory.
In addition, two
players of the “BioTexCom-KNTU” team were awarded individual titles: Catcher
Oleg Shkatula was named “The best batter”, and CF Illya Velykyi became the MVP
of the tournament.
The honorable third
place got another Ukrainian baseball team – “BioTexCom-SDUSHOR”.

The third game day of
the preseason international tournament “Kolodytskyi Cup” was full of intense
matches that took place at the baseball stadium in Kropyvnytskyi city.
The BC “Minsk”
players defeated Ukrainian youth from the “Play Global camp” with a score 12-3.
During the second match of the day the “BioTexCom-KNTU” team conquered their
opponents “BioTexCom-SDUSHOR”. The results of the match were 12-5.

Ukraine will host European baseball championship 2018!
The Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) announced Ukraine will become the host country of the “European baseball championship” that will take place from 23 to 29 of July 2018. Ireland will be another host country of the tournament.
Games between “C” division teams will be held on the baseball field in Kropyvnytskyi city (Ukraine). Teams that will participate in the pool will be determined by a draw. Ukrainian baseball team will probably compete against teams from Romania, Estonia, Hungary, Georgia, Slovenia, Norway and Finland which played in the same division during the last championship in 2016.
The winner of the “C” pool matches will continue to compete for the main prize of the tournament with stronger teams of the division “B”.
Czech Extraleague: Draci Brno downs Olympia Blansko
In a mid-week matchup in the Czech Extraleague Draci Brno defeated Olympia Blansko 12-4.
Draci took a quick 5-0 lead through three innings. Blansko answered with three runs in the fourth. But afterwards Brno added seven more runs to seal the win. Jakub Hajtmar, Dondrei Hubbard and Tomas Polansky picked up two RBI each for Draci. Natsuhiko Ue drove in two for Blansko.
Drake Zarate from Stuttgart Reds to Vienna Wanderers
US-American catcher Drake Zarate, who first came to Europe last season, is going to play for the Vienna Wanderers in the Baseball League Austria this year.
He is transferring from the Stuttgart Reds to the Austrian capital. With the Reds he batted three home runs, 21 runs and 14 RBI in 18 games. An injury cut his season short.

Rouen Huskies add new Center Fielder Jose Paula
The Rouen Huskies have completed their roster with new center fielder Jose Paula.
The 18-year-old is from Fort de France and played two seasons in the Dominican Summer League for the Oakland Athletics. He was released at the end of Spring Training. He then worked at the Baseball Academy in Toulouse and joined the Huskies for a tournament in the Netherlands. Now Rouen officially added them to their roster.
Former Minor Leaguer Austin Gallagher joined Mainz Athletics
The Mainz Athletics have added another import player for the 2018 season. After Connor Little, Shane Salley and James Watts, they also signed utility player Austin Gallagher.
The 29-year-old US-American is joining the team after playing in Down Under during the winter months. Between 2007 and 2012 he was part of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and then turned to Indy ball.
