The German Baseball-Bundesliga opened the 2018 season on the weekend.
In the northern division the Bonn Capitals celebrated a pair of wins over the Dohren Wild Farmers. The promoted Berlin Flamingos and Bremen Dockers captured splits in their first doubleheaders against the Solingen Alligators and Untouchables Paderborn. The twin-bill between the Cologne Cardinals and Hamburg Stealers got postponed.
In the south another promoted club, the Ulm Falcons, settled for the split against the Saarlouis Hornets. The shared wins. Defending champion Heidenheim Heidekoepfe cruised to an opening day win over the Munich-Haar Disciples.
