Ukrainian championship 2018, Western group

The 3rd round of the Ukrainian baseball championship 2018, Division “B”, Western group will be played this weekend.

Two teams from Rivne city “West Side” and “Zahidnyy Vohon” are the participants of the doubleheader.

The matches between teams will start on June 2 at the “Khimic” stadium in Rivne city.

New baseball entity formed in Dominican Republic

The Dominican Olympic Baseball Programme (“PROBEISBOL”) has been launched with the goal of qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

With support from the business sector, led by entrepreneur Felipe Vicini, together with the Ministry of Sports (MIDEREC), the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) and the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), the new group has been formed to boost the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOBE) and boost the nation’s Olympic hopes.

Six-time MLB All-Star Moisés Alou has been announced as part of Probeisbol’s management team, and group’s first objective has been set: to finish the year ranked as one of the 12 best countries in the world.

The Top 12 nations in the end-of-the-year 2018 WBSC Baseball World Rankings will qualify for the flagship Premier12 global championship, where the top finisher from the Americas (and top finisher from Asia/Oceania) will earn a place in Tokyo 2020.

The National Baseball Team of the Dominican Republic has qualified once for the Olympics (Barcelona 1992).

Ukrainian championship 2018: “BioTexCom-KNTU” – “Sokoly”, Game 3

Two baseball teams of the Major league, Division “A”, have held a three-game series of the Ukrainian baseball championship 2018 recently.

The “BioTexCom-KNTU” team (Kropyvnytskyi city) has impressively defeated the “Sokoly” team (Chernivtsi) in all matches. The 3^rd game of the 4^th round of the championship was ended with the victory of the “BioTexCom-KNTU” team with the score 12-0.

Austria names 24 Player Roster for European Championship Playoff

The Austrian Baseball Federation (ABF) announced their roster for the European Championship Playoff against Lithuania.

24 players were selected for the best-of-three series from June 29 to July 1 in Wiener Neustadt. The winner of the series will qualify for the 2019 European Championship in Bonn and Solingen, Germany.

In Pool A Apollo Bratislava split against BK Zagreb and Nada SM Split did it versus Olimpija Karlovac.

In the Czech Extraleague nine games were played last week.

Draci Brno won its series against Kotlarka Prague. Technika Brno and Olympia Blansko split a two-game set, as did Cardion Hrosi Brno and Skokani Olomouc.

Arrows Ostrava won twice over the Tempo Titans Prague. The Eagles Prague beat the Trebic Nuclears.

Results German Baseball-Bundesliga May 19 & 21, 2018

In the German Baseball-Bundesliga a couple of games were played.

The Bonn Capitals defeated the Bremen Dockers 14-2 and 3-0 to keep their clean slate in first place in the northern division. The Cologne Cardinals and the Hamburg Stealers settled for a split.

The Heidenheim Heidekoepfe extended their lead in the south with two wins over the Saarlouis Hornets. The Dohren Wild Farmers and Untouchables Paderborn shared wins.

Senior Ukrainian Baseball Championship

The first Ukrainian baseball championship among veterans will start at the end of May.

First games of the championship will take place in Kyiv, at the “Druzhby Narodiv” stadium” on 26 and 27 May.  The KBL “Dgmeli” and “Victory” teams have already confirmed their participation at the championship.

Currently, the “Darnytski Pertsi” team has been also considering participation at the Senior Ukrainian Baseball Championship.

The Hoboken Pioneers stunned the favored Borgerhout Squirrels with a split. Louvain La Neuve Phoenix and the Brasschaat Braves also shared wins. The Mortsel Stars beat the Deurne Spartans.

In the Dutch Hoofdklasse Curacao Neptunus suffered their first defeat of the season, but still won their series against De Glaskoning Twins.

Quick Amersfoort and the Hoofddorp Pioniers split their weekend games after settling for the tie on Thursday. L&D Amsterdam prevailed in all three games over Storks H1. HCAW won two of three against DSS.

Astros Valencia beat Tenerife Marlins to win Copa del Rey 2018

The Astros Valencia have won the Copa del Rey 2018.

They defeated the Tenerife Marlins 8-7 in the final of the Spanish cup on Sunday. The Astros had beaten CBS Sant Boi in the semifinals, while Tenerife downed CB Barcelona.

Valencia scored the game-winner in the final through a bases loaded walk-off walk in the bottom of the 11th inning. Tenerife had tied the game in the top of the ninth to force extra innings.

In the Italian Serie A1 week five of the 2018 season was played this past weekend.

Rimini won both games over Citta di Nettuno. Tommasin Padua swept a doubleheader against Padule. Parmaclima lost twice to Unipol Bologna. T&A San Marino defeated Angel Service Nettuno in both games of a twin-bill.

Ukrainian Championship U18: Results

Recently near Chernivtsi city Ukrainian Baseball Championship U18 was held. Young players from the Kropyvnytskyi National team have won the tournament.

Sportsmen from Kropyvnytskyi city successfully played games of the group stage. They won all four matches: National team from Rivne region was defeated with the score 17-2; National team from Chernivtsi region lost with the score 19-0 and the game against Kyiv National team also was won with the score 11-0 by Kropyvnytskyi players. During the last match players from Kropyvnytskyi shut out the “Desant” team from Mykolaiv– 14-0.

In the final game of the championship the Kropyvnytskyi National team has defeated team from Chernivtsi region with an impressive score – 27-0.

National team from Rivne region ended an intense game against the Kyiv National team with the score 14-13 and got the honourable third place.

In addition, three players of the Kropyvnytskyi National team were awarded with individual titles: Babii Viacheslav was named “The best batter”, Bohdan Levandovskyi got “The best defender” title and Andrii Boiko became the MVP of the championship.

Historic first-ever MLB games arriving in Europe in 2019 in London

The historic first-ever Major League Baseball (MLB) games in Europe will be played in London in 2019.

The two-game series slated for 29 and 30 June will feature baseball’s biggest rivalry and brands, the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, who will battle at London Stadium. The Yankees and Red Sox will repeat the series in 2020.

Olympic media specialists reported that “bringing the powerhouse North American League to the Continent could be seen as a way of growing the sport in Europe while sending a message to [Paris 2024 Olympic] decision makers in the French Capital”.

MLB first held regular-season games outside the Continental U.S. or Canada for the first time in 1999, and have staged games in Australia, Japan, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Results German Baseball-Bundesliga May 9 to 13, 2018

In the German Baseball-Bundesliga two game days of the 2018 season were scheduled this past weekend.

In the north the Bonn Capitals improved to 14-0 before the third and fourth game against the Cologne Cardinals got rained out due to rain. Meanwhile the Dohren Wild Farmers moved into second place in the standings with four wins over the Bremen Dockers. The Solingen Alligators won game one against the Untouchables Paderborn with the second match being rained out. The Hamburg Stealers reduced their deficit in the standings with four wins over the Berlin Flamingos.

In the south the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe extended their lead with four wins over the Mannheim Tornados. The Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg won two of three against the Munich-Haar Disciples and remain in second place. The Mainz Athletics had to settle against the split against the Saarlouis Hornets with the second leg of the four-game series being rained out as well. The Stuttgart Reds and the Ulm Falcons split their series.

Ukrainian championship 2018: “Poltava Wild Hogs” — “Vorony”

Games of the Ukrainian baseball championship 2018, Division “B”, North – Eastern group, were held in Sumy city recently.

Players from “Poltava Wild Hogs” team (Poltava city) faced with heavy favorite “Vorony” team from Sumy city. There was a real duel between pitchers — Yevhen Vasylets (“Vorony”) and Ruslan Shkurynskyi (“Poltava Wild Hogs”). The “Vorony” team gained the upper hand at the start of a baseball match. After the fourth inning, the score was in favor of the host team – 5:1. During the middle of the fifth inning, the “Poltava Wild Hogs” team managed to tie the game – 5:5. Thus the team from Poltava didn`t stand their ground – 8:5.

The second game day was started by other pitchers – Roman Karavai played for the host team while Vladyslav Ladur was the pitcher of the “Poltava Wild Hogs” team. Due to a number of pitcher`s mistakes of “Poltava Wild Hogs” the first inning was ended in favor of the “Vorony” team – 0:9. The second game between “Poltava Wild Hogs” and “Vorony” lasted for 7 innings. The Ukrainian baseball team “Vorony” has won the second game with the score 14:2.

The “Poltava Wild Hogs” team will meet on the field with “East Vikings” during games that will take place in Kharkiv on 7 and 8 June 2018.

Germany, Czech Republic will play Exhibition Series in Trebic

The U18 national teams of Germany and the Czech Republic will play an exhibition series in Trebic, Czech Republic this coming weekend.

Friday to Sunday a total of five games are scheduled at the facility of the Trebic Nuclears.

Both teams use the series in preparation for the European Championship in Grosseto, Italy from July 9 to 15.

Ukrainian championship 2018, Division “B”

Ukrainian baseball teams from the Division “B” have played first two rounds of the Ukrainian baseball championship 2018.

“West Side” team from Rivne city has shown the best results in the Western group. Players won at a game against “East Side” team and took the leading place in the standing. The final results were 21 – 11 and 14 – 7.

“East Side” and “ROC SDUSHOR “Kolos” – Zahidnyy Vohon-II” teams also played a two-game set which was ended with the score 13 – 24 and 15 – 5.

Teams from the North-Eastern group held two games. “Vorony” team won both games against “Poltava Wild Hogs” with the result 12 – 6 and 14 – 2.

Rouen Huskies win Challenge de France 2018

For the ninth time in team history, the Rouen Huskies have won the Challenge de France 2018.

They defeated the Templiers Senart 13-5 in the final on Sunday. The league-cup style tournament for the eight teams of the French Division I was played this past weekend in Compiegne and Valenciennes. Senart had edged out Montigny Cougars 18-6 en route to the finals, while the Huskies downed the Savigny Lions 7-3.

In the Czech Extraleague Draci Brno captured another three-win weekend.

On Friday and Saturday they defeated Skokani Olomouc. On Sunday they shut out Arrows Ostrava to extend their lead in the standings.

The Eagles Prague shut out the Tempo Titans Prague twice. Arrows won both games against Olympia Blansko. Kotlarka Prague and Cardion Hrosi Brno picked up sweeps as well.

Ukrainian championship 2018, Division “A”: 3rd round results

Past weekend games of the 3^rd round of the Ukrainian baseball championship 2018, Major league, Division “A” took place.

The final round was held between “BioTexCom-KNTU” and “BioTexCom-SDUSHOR” baseball teams from Kropyvnytskyi city. A double-header took place at the home field and resulted in the victory of “BioTexCom-KNTU” team. The final standings after two games were 12-2 and 13-2 in favor of “BioTexCom-KNTU” team. In the final game, the score was tied for six innings. In the seven-inning, baseball player from “BioTexCom-KNTU” team, Ilya Bolshoi, conducted home-run and completed the game with victory.

At the same time, “ATMA” (Kyiv) baseball team competed against “Sokoly”(Chernivtsi). After two games baseball players from Kyiv lost to their opponents with the score 0-15 and 0-20.

In the Baseball League Austria the Traiskirchen Grasshoppers and the ASAK Athletics Attnang-Puchheim are leading the standings in the east and west.

The Athletics swept the Feldkirch Cardinals, while Traiskirchen prevailed easily over the Stock City Cubs. The Diving Ducks Wiener Neustadt split against the Vienna Wanderers, as did the Hard Bulls against the Kufstein Vikings.

Successful sport year of the Ukrainian “BioTexCom” baseball club!

Today, the former “KNTU-Yelisavetgrad” baseball team, which represents Ukrainian city Kropyvnytskyi, is known as “BioTexCom”.

One of the best Ukrainian baseball clubs has started a new life under the sponsorship of BioTexCom medical center for human reproduction. Name changes don’t affect the success of Ukrainian baseball players. This year “BioTexCom” team once again became the undefeated champion of Ukraine and Cup holder. All these years the team has been showing great results under watchful eyes of honored coaches of Ukraine Yuri and Oleg Boiko.

“BioTexCom” team became the winner of the Ukraine Baseball Championship 2017. But it is not the only cause for rejoicing. Sponsor has taken the team under his financial wing. Center for Human Reproduction, which is very popular among European patients, supports Ukrainian baseball players and roots their game.

It is to be recalled that the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) announced Ukraine will become the host country of the “European baseball championship” that will take place from 23 to 29 of July 2018. Ireland will be another host country of the tournament.

Thus, currently financial backer of the “BioTexCom” team has initiated and funded reconstruction of the main stadium in Kropivnitskiy city.

It must be noted “BioTexCom” is one of the strongest baseball clubs among the Ukrainian teams. During the last 23 years team has won the Ukrainian Championship for twenty-two times! Athletes didn’t always have an opportunity to attend international competitions. It was due to the lack of funding, sports equipment and bad stadiums for training at home. Results French Division I May 6, 2018

In the French Division I week five was played this past weekend.

The Montpellier Barracudas stunned the Senart Templiers 15-7 and 1-0. Defending champion Rouen Huskies had to settle for a split against the Montigny Cougars.

La Rochelle Boucaniers defeated Paris UC in both ends of a doubleheader. The Savigny Lions swept the St. Just St. Rambert Ducks.
