The Diving Ducks Wiener Neustadt won the Federations Cup Qualifier in Belgrade, Serbia. They defeated host Beograd 96 in the final by a score of 9-3. With the victory Austria is keeping their spot in the Federations Cup.
In the final of the Federations Cup Qualifier in Belgrade, the Diving Ducks scored four runs in the first en route to an easy win. Beograd didn’t score until the last two innings. Adenson Verastegui struck out nine in 8 2/3 solid innings for the win. Moritz Scheicher went 4-for-5 with two runs in the final. Matthias Scheicher drove in four. Ferdinand Obed hit a two-run home run and collected three RBI. Danijl Kozjak took the loss.
Jose Zambrano of the Diving Ducks was named MVP and Best Batter in the tournament, Carlos Garcia of Beograd 96 as Best Pitcher.
