European Champions Cup 2017 in Regensburg Recaps Day 2, June 8, 2017

The 2017 European Champions Cup in Regensburg saw day two on Thursday. In Group A all four teams are locked into a four-way tie with the winners from Friday advancing to the semifinals.

In Group B L&D Amsterdam captured their second win in as many days, while T&A San Marino entered the win column.

 Unipol Bologna – Rouen Huskies 14-0 (7)

 Matteo Bocchi threw a seven-inning no-hitter for Unipol Bologna in a 14-0 shutout against the Rouen Huskies. He issued only a walk, while striking out eight. Francesco Fuzzi and Alex Sambucci hit home runs. Bologna scored five runs in the second and seven in the fourth in the blowout.

Mainz Athletics – Curacao Neptunus 7-6

In a major upset the Mainz Athletics held on to a 7-6 win over Curacao Neptunus. The German champion jumped out to a 7-1 lead after two innings thanks to a grand slam by Max Boldt. Riley Barr pitched a complete game, surviving a late rally by Rotterdam.

 ASD Rimini – L&D Amsterdam 2-9

L&D Amsterdam became the lone undefeated team in the tournament with a 9-2 win over day-one winner ASD Rimini. Rob Cordemans pitched six strong innings for the winLinoy Croes scored three of the nine runs. Amsterdam led 5-1 after three innings and had control through the entire game.

T&A San Marino – Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg 13-1

In the evening game at the Armin-Wolf-Arena T&A San Marino scored 12 of their 13 runs of a 13-1 win over the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg in the first three innings. Erick Epifano led the way with two doubles, three runs scored and two RBIFrailyn Florian struck out seven in five innings for the win. Jonathan Eisenhuth got charged with the loss being replaced in the first without recording an out.
