South Korea opens WBC Training Camp in Japan

Korea has opened training camp in Okinawa, Japan on Sunday ahead of the 2017 World Baseball Classic. They will stay there until February 23 and will face the NPB teams Yomiuri Giants and Yokohama DeNa BayStars as well as the KBO minor league affiliate of LG Twins in exhibition games. South Korea had a couple of their MLB stars being dropped off their roster due to club commitments (Shin-Soo Choo, Hyon-Soo Kim) and legal matters (Jung-Ho Kang). St. Louis Cardinals reliever Seung-Hwan Oh is their lone active Major Leaguer on the roster. Jae-Ho Kim was named captain of the team. After returning to South Korea the team will play three more exhibition games against Cuba and Australia before opening the 2017 World Baseball Classic at home against the Netherlands on March 7.
