European Championship Roundup: Day 3, September 11, 2016

The third day of the European Championship showed us the morning wins of Spain and Czech over Croatia and Sweden. In the afternoon the Netherlands defeated Russian team (3-1), Germany prevailed over Britain (3-2) and Greece was edged out by France (7-1). The day finished with the game Italy-Belgium. The second one was defeated with the score 15-0.
The next day will show the composition of the Super Round Robin. It is already obvious that Czech Republic, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy are qualified for the Final Round. France and Germany can follow them in case they defeat Russia and Belgium. We all expect to see the games between Netherlands and Czech Republic, Italy and Spain. Also Greece will meet with Croatia and Britain with Swedish team.
Frederic Hanvi from France was called the best on Sunday.
No surprises:
18 games are already played. The favorite on paper has won on each occasion. However after five of the six games on day one ended early due to mercy rule, only two games have suffered this fate since then.
Interesting fact:
Italy and the Netherlands have met 25 times in the finals. They are both multiple winners of the European Championship: Netherlands – 16 wins and Italy – 9.
