The Buchbinder Legionären in Regensburg are undergoing a radical change. Just three runners from the past decade ended their active career with the final loss against Mainz Athletics. Ludwig Glaser, Chris Howard and Chris Zirzlmeier will devote themselves to other goals in the future.
Glaser was one of the most aggressive players in Bundesliga (566 hits in 441 games) And the German national team. Nine finals he denied with Regensburg and won five of them. He will now turn to his professional career.
The 27-year-old Howard was first to be found with the Buchbinder Legionären  in 2006, played for two years at his home town in Gauting, and since 2008 he has been a strong  figure in Regensburg (36 homers in 289 games) and in the national team. He also won five championship titles, but will remain the German baseball coach.
Zirlzmeier, also 27, did not make the leap into the national team, but still belonged to the five-time German champion. In 2008 he made his debut in the baseball league. However, his priorities for a professional career  shifted off the field.
