Czech Republic beats Germany 7-1 on Tuesday in Heidenheim

The Czech Republic has won game one of their three-game series in Germany on Tuesday evening in Heidenheim. Games two and three will be played at the Armin-Wolf-Arena in Regensburg on Wednesday and Thursday.

Thanks to a four-run rally in the third and a solo home run by Tomas Junec the team of manager Mike Griffin defeated Germany 7-1.

Tomas Junec also opened the scoring on Tuesday with a RBI double against Germany in the first. In the third they widened the gap with a pair of RBI singles by Jakub Malik and Petr Cech, a bases-loaded walk and a sac fly.

Germany, which couldn’t convert a no-out, two-men on situation in the second, got on the board in the fourth inning, when Maurice Wilhelm scored through a RBI groundout by Philip Schulz.

However this was the only score allowed by Czech pitchers Jan Tomek (3 IP) and Daniel Mraz (6 IP). The Czech offense meanwhile added two more runs against the German bullpen. In the seventh Junec greeted Eric Brenk with a leadoff home run over the right-field wall.
