Dutch Hoofdklasse Playoffs L&D Amsterdam suffers first loss

The second of six weeks of the Dutch Hoofdklasse semifinal round robin is in the books.
On Sunday L&D Amsterdam suffered their first loss in the playoffs, losing 6-8 to HCAW. It was a low-scoring game for the first seven innings. In the top of the eighth HCAW broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run single by Kevin Weijgertse.
The team from Bussum added four more runs in the top of the ninth. In the bottom half of the last frame Amsterdam put four runs on the board, but with the bases loaded Kenny Berkenbosch flied out to center field to end the comeback hopes.
In the second playoff game on Sunday Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam downed the Hoofddorp Pioniers 9-2. Rotterdam decided the game with a four-run sixth inning. Jan Tomek picked up the win in relief of Kevin Kelly. Curacao Neptunus and L&D Amsterdam are now 5-1 in the semifinal round robin.
