The U23 European Championship continued on Thursday with the first two games of the consolation round, as the top eight await the quarterfinals on Friday.
Belarus shut out Lithuania 14-0 in seven innings. Yauheni Kurhun struck out eight in seven scoreless innings. It was already his third appearance in the tournament. In a rematch of last year’s final at the U21 European Championship Ukraine beat Russia 10-7 for their second win of the week. Shortstop Kostiantyn Chukhas went 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBI.
