Italian Baseball League Semis Rimini, San Marino improve to 2-0 in Best-of-5-Series


The Italian Baseball League semi-finals continued on Saturday with games two.
ASD Rimini and T&A San Marino both improved to 2-0 in the best-of-five series and are each one win away from advancing to the Italian Series.
Rimini once against stunned defending champion Unipol Bologna on their field, winning 8-5. Bologna was up 4-2 after the second, but would only score one more time in the game, while Rimini added six runs until the seventh to secure the win. Four players picked up two RBI apiece for the Pirates. Jose Escalona walked seven in 6 2/3 innings of relief, but still allowed only two runs to receive the win. Andrea Pizziconi got charged with the loss.
T&A San Marino downed Angel Service Nettuno 8-6 on Saturday. San Marino built an 8-3 lead after six innings, but Nettuno made things interesting with three runs in the last two frames. Mattia Reginato led the way, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI. Renato Imperiali also went deep. Mattia Mercuri hit a home run and drove in three for Nettuno. Fraylin Florian got the win, Paolo Taschini the loss.
